Rava Kanji


Presenting my late mom's Rava Kanji Recipe which is loved by all and one of our all time favorites. It's one of the most simple and quick recipe yet a rich and a delightful dessert and a filling porridge. This makes a very quick one to prepare for iftar during Ramadan and is also a healthy version feeling light after Iftar.




Mom used to prepare this yummy kanji for evenings after schools or for guests and also on some special occasions.The ingredients are easily available at home and hence can be made in a jiffy any time you have guests.

Ingredients (for Two)


1/4 cup Rava (sooji)

1.5 cups water

1 cup milk

3 tbsp sugar (or as per your preference)

Raisins or badam or cashews to fry in ghee for garnish.


Method

Cook water and suji in a slow flame stirring continuously so as to no lumps are formed. Bring the mixture to a boil. Once the rava is properly cooked, add milk, and cardamom powder, sugar and mix well. Switch off the stove once boiled and a creamy porridge is formed.


Heat ghee in a small saucepan, and add badam or cashew pieces to it, and fry till it becomes light brown and garnish the Kanji with this fried badam or cashew pieces. Serve hot or cold as per your preference.
