Namma ooru Thakkali sadham( Tomato rice)
Tomara rice is one of the most common south indian lunch and I don’ t thinkanyone would dislike thakkali sadham…It’s a sure success dish that can be tried by bachelors and also will be handy for house wives when they need to quick something in a short time. Hope you will all soon try this

Ingredients:
Basmati Rice - 1 Cup
Tomato - 4 Nos
Chopped Onion - 2 Nos Thinly Sliced
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 Tsp
Kashmiri Chili Powder - 1 Tsp
Salt - 1 Tsp
Coriander leaves few
Mint leaves one handful
Water - 1 1/2 Cups
Ginger - 1 Inch Piece
Garlic - 2 Cloves
Green Chili - 2 Nos
Water -2 cups
Wash and soak basmati rice for half an hour. Make a paste of ginger, garlic, onions, green chilies, few mint leaves and cashews and set it aside. Heat oil in a kadai. Add and saute the ground paste .Add sliced onions .Add in all the spice powders, salt. Now add in the chopped tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes turn mushy. Add remaining mint leaves. Now add the soaked rice. Pour water and bring everything to a good boil. Now simmer the flame and cook covered. Pressure cook it for 1 whistle. Now turn the stove off and let it sit covered for 10 mins. Open the lid Garnish with cashew fried in Ghee and serve hot with raitha.
RAITHA:
To Make Raita, Mix all the below ingredients and serve.
Curd - 200 Ml Salt - 1/4 Tsp
Onion finely chopped- 1/3 Cup
Salt a pinch
